Winter Isn't Something You Have to Survive. Stop Waiting for Spring!

Can we stop hating on winter?

Every year, somewhere around November, it starts.

"Ugh. Winter is coming."

By January, everyone's complaining about the cold. By February, we're counting down the days until spring. And don't even get me started on the poor groundhog. That's a lot of pressure to put on one little furry guy.

But seriously... what if we stopped treating winter like something we have to survive?

We live in Upstate New York. Winter isn't some unexpected inconvenience that sneaks up on us every year. It's a part of the beautiful gift of four unique seasons that we get to experience every year.

And yet, we spend nearly a quarter of every year wishing it away.

That's a whole lot of living we're missing out on.

Remember When Snow Was Exciting?

When we were kids, snow in the forecast was cause for celebration.

We'd press our noses against the window, hoping those first few flakes would turn into something spectacular. We'd spend hours sledding, building snow forts, and coming home with frozen fingers, rosy cheeks, and socks that were somehow completely soaked.

And we loved it.

Somewhere along the way, a lot of us lost that excitement.

Maybe it was the shoveling, the icy commutes, or realizing that snow days aren't nearly as much fun when you're the one who has to get to work.

I get it. Adulting when it snows can be a lot of extra work.

But who says we can't get some of that joy back?

Stop Wishing Your Winter Away.

I love spring, too. The first warm breeze, the smell of fresh grass, and finally putting away the snow shovel.

But spring will come. It always does.

In the meantime, wouldn't it be nice to look back on winter and remember the fun we had instead of just being relieved it's over? Find something that makes you happy when the snow starts falling. Get outside. Make some memories.

Because life is too short to spend three months every year waiting for the next season.

Besides, spring has mud, mosquitoes, and allergies. It's not all sunshine and daffodils, you know.

Winter is a whole lot better when you have something to look forward to.

See you outside,

Auntie Maple
